This week, industry leaders, bakers, suppliers and future talent from across Wales and the UK came together at Cardiff and Vale College for the Wales Bakery Conference 2026, with BAKO proud to be sponsoring the event.
Held at Cardiff and Vale College, the conference created a fantastic opportunity for people across the sector to share ideas, explore innovation and celebrate the future of the bakery industry.
From conversations around skills and education through to innovation, sustainability and the future of bakery businesses, the day highlighted just how important collaboration is across our industry.
We were especially proud to see our Group Commercial Director, David Armstrong take to the stage as one of the conference speakers, sharing his thoughts on the importance of investing in the next generation of bakers and ensuring the industry continues to evolve while protecting the craft and passion that sits at its heart.
Speaking about the event, David said…

Bringing education and industry together creates real opportunities for the next generation of bakers, and it’s inspiring to see so much passion, innovation and talent coming through. The future of baking depends on continuing to support, develop and invest in people.”
It was also fantastic to see Naomi Griffiths as one of the guest speakers. Naomi was part of the very first BAKO Young Bakers Initiative, making it especially rewarding to see her now sharing her own experiences and insights with the wider industry.
The conference was a brilliant reflection of how much talent, creativity and ambition exists within the baking sector across Wales and the UK, and why continuing to support young people entering the industry matters so much.
